Eczema

Eczema is a term for a group of conditions that cause the skin to become inflamed or irritated. The most common being atopic dermatitis or atopic eczema. Eczema can happen at any age but is especially common among babies, affecting almost 10% to 20% of them.

This skin condition is characterised by chronic inflammation and frequent relapse. The affected skin is almost always itchy. Sometimes the itch may develop even before the rash appears. Rashes most commonly appear on the face, back of knees, wrists, hands, or feet. In fair-skinned people, these areas may appear reddish initially and turn brown later. Among darker-skinned people, eczema can affect pigmentation, making the affected area lighter or darker.

What Causes Eczema?

Although the causes of eczema are unknown, it is often associated to an overactive response of the body’s immune system to an irritant, leading to symptoms of eczema.

Eczema is also a common condition in individuals with a family history of other allergies or asthma. Defects in the skin barrier may be another reason for the eczema occurrences as damaged skin barrier leaves the skin without moisture, making it vulnerable to attacks by germs.

How does Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) Fermented Extract help to relieve Eczema symptoms?

An unhealthy intestine dominated by bad bacteria may be one of the causes of skin problem like eczema due to the following possibilities:

  1. Unbalanced gut flora increases intestinal permeability, leading to a condition known as “leaky gut syndrome”. The intestine is lined by a single layer of cells that make up the mucosal barrier which is effective in absorbing nutrients, but preventing large molecules such as  bad bacteria, toxins, undigested foods and other foreign substances get leaked into the bloodstream. In some circumstances, this barrier can become less effective and “leaky”, causing the substance get leaked into the bloodstream and contributing to systemic inflammation which may result in eczema.

2. Damage to the membrane lining of skin triggers an inflammatory reaction from the immune system. The continuous cycle of inflammation worsens the state of the gut, leading to eczema reactions.

LAB Fermented Extract encourages the proliferation of the intestine’s good bacteria while suppressing bad bacteria, this is  important to reduce the condition of leaky gut. When the intestinal permeability improves, skin condition will also in turn improves.

“I recommended LAB Fermented Extract to my patients and I was astonished to witness the difference in the results compared with other LAB supplements. LAB Fermented Extract is fast-acting and is effective in improving the multiple symptoms of poor gastrointestinal health. ”

“I specialise in Gastroenterological medicine so I see many patients suffering from intestinal problems such as constipation, diarrhoea, etc. By observing these patients daily, I noticed that most of them also suffered from skin problems, including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, oral ulcer and inflammation inside nasal cavity. In a clinical setting, I am assured that gastrointestinal problems may affect skin health.

I first tried LAB Fermented Extract as I suffered from constipation. My bowel movement improved after consuming it for 2 weeks. Even the odour of my flatulence disappeared and the amount of stool has increased, without any change in my diet. The increase of stool amount is very crucial as almost half the stool consists of gut bacteria. This proved that taking LAB Fermented Extract promotes the growth of friendly bacteria.”
